ANSWERED RFI: Question: In the Spec section 01 35 29 pg 6 paragraph 1.6.1.1 it states The Contractor Quality Control person can be the SSHO on this project. Then in Spec section 01 45 00.00 20 pg 5 paragraph 1.5.1.1 it states the QC Manager may perform the duties of the Project Superintendent. Then goes on the state That QC Manager shall not be designated as the safety competent person as defined be EM 385-1-1. Which is correct?  If duly qualified can 1 person perform all 3 positions?
Answer:Yes, the intent was that if duly qualified, one person could serve in all 3 positions.
ANSWERED RFI: Questions:1. Section 099000 calls for under Main Heading

Painting of new and existing, interior and exterior substrates, including masonry, concrete, metal, wood and other miscellaneous materials

Do we follow finish schedule on plans or this directive?

2. If we follow the Finish Schedule, who is responsible for damage to
walls, doors, etc from installation of Mechanical, Electrical, and new ACT Ceiling in other areas of the project?
3. Does the exterior wood ramp and rails of the Modular unit required
painting?

Answers:1. Follow the finish schedule on plans.  The only areas requiring painting are the library walls, the walls of the bathrooms being renovated, and the interior of the modular building.

2.
If walls or doors are damaged, they must be repaired and painted to match existing.

3.
No.

Answered RFI: Question:  According to drawing AD101 the library ceiling is to be "demolished
of existing metal lath & plaster ceiling and lights.".  Drawing ED102  and
ED103 Note 1 says "Remove all ceiling light fixtures in this area including conduit and wire back to panel board circuit breakers.  Drawing E-102 Note 7 "During ceiling removal hang ceiling speakers, lighting fixtures, and smoke detectors from overhead structure.  Install in new ceiling."  Are we to reinstall the existing fixtures in the new lay in ceiling?

Answer:  Construction Note 7 on sheet E-102 is incorrect.  This area is to receive new light fixtures.

Answered RFI - mechanical: Question: There is a scheduling note on the drawings that states there will be no heating demo/work in the facility during the heating season, and that all work is to be done between April 15 and October 15. Will this be adhered to, thus pushing all work to be started April 15, 2010, or is this an outdated note? There is a section in the specifications under the scheduling section as well. Any information that you may have on this issue will be greatly appreciated.

Answer: The note is correct.  There is to be no heating demo/work between Oct 15 and Apr 15.  However, all other work in the project can be done at any time throughout the year.

Answered RFI: 1.  On Sheet 11, AD102, Demo notes, item #20 of the drawings,  does this flooring get replaced and if so with what?

Response: Please see A-101 plan view 2.  As stated in the Interior Finish Schedule on A-501, room 106 gets ceramic tile floor and wall base and room 107 will be concrete with no wall base.

2.  is there a specific carpet tile this spec is built upon meeting the density requirement?  the density specified is typically for higher face weight products or walk-off tiles.

Response: There is no specific carpet tile in mind.  The tile carpet is for the high traffic areas.

ANSWERED RFI: Question: Spec section 23 82 00.00 20 para 2.1.1.2 Coil, "Fin-and-tube coil constructed of copper, tubes and copper fins."
Copper fins are usually not specified on indoor unit heaters. Is this needed? If so, will a phenolic coating be an acceptable substitute?

Response: The specification is correct.  We prefer copper tubes and copper fins.
